Auto Download New Content

Sometimes, I want to listen/pray on the road, but I've forgotten to pre-download the content to keep my data usage down. I want the ability to set up an automatic download for new content on select collections. I want the ability to restrict those downloads to WiFi data only. I would also like the ability to auto-delete downloads that are X days old [in case I failed to listen to them in a timely fashion] or only keep Y downloads for that collection. I already asked for this in a separate feature request, but it would be great to auto-delete certain downloads after listening: https://hallow.canny.io/feature-requests/p/automatically-delete-download-after-playing.

Grettings. Thank you so much for your suggestions. We really appreciate them. As you can imagine, there are so many good ideas and projects that we can work on. We have a small team and only so much that we can release and properly promote.
You do have a way to download sessions to make them available offline. You can set the downloads to WIFI only on your device (not app) settings. You can also delete sessions. Please check this article for more information. https://help.hallow.com/en/articles/3276892-how-to-download-prayers-and-manage-downloaded-sessions

Tina Villegas I don’t think this answers the request. The request is for automatically downloading new content as soon as it is published (only when connected to WiFi) and automatically deleting already listened to content for collections. For example, on other podcast apps and even Netflix, you can set the app to do this. It would be helpful for those daily podcast like collections to not have to remember to go in and download it everyday. Some of them have over 400 sessions. I don’t need that many downloaded at the same time, only the new ones that I haven’t listened to when they get posted.

Lauren, I completely agree. Tina may get point within her company for closing the work item, but this is not a solution. Just another reason to use Podcasts, where most of the same content is available.

Hi Lauren. We are aware of your request. We have taken your privacy and personal preferences into consideration to not let the app download automatically. It may take up so much space on the app which will affect it's performance. The download function's main purpose is to make some prayers available offline. Sometimes certain projects are good ideas, but we either don't have the bandwidth or it isn't the right time. We will take your ideas into consideration for the future. Thank you for sharing.

I think Hallow provides the programming to all subscribers but we are to manage our individual systems.
